Week 37: Walter's Baptism and Montevideo

HEY! How has everyone been!?

Here in Uruguay we just finished playing some futbol as a zone, and I must say that i have improved my skills as an uruguayo haha. All the latinos like to call me ronaldo haha but thats only because I wear his jersey everytime I play (had to buy another one because Elder Rodriguez has the other.) This week we had an awesome time in Montevideo! We had to take a 7 hour bus ride to get there, but it was worth every second! I´ll tell you a lil bit more about it after the funny story of the week.

So the victim of funny story of the week goes to Elder El-bakri (he knows the Wertz family and was best friends with Zach.) It all began when we started our big planeamiento semanal that we do every sunday. So after church and eating a big lunch with the members, we have to go straight into planning. So Elder Vargas started planning and after about 15 min I notice that Bakri and his comp haven't said a word for about 10 minutes straight. So I turn to Elder Vargas and say 'hey, you think they fell asleep?' He says naa, so I get up and look down the hall and see them both dead asleep! So we both start creepy crawlin down the hall way to go and scare them, but while we did that Elder Nae the comp of Bakri woke up, but knew what we were going to do, so we all surround bakri who has half his body hanging off and  sprawled out on the couch haha, we all count to three and give out a death scream!! Hahah I swear Elder El-bakri almost flew up and hit the cieling, it reminded me of all the times I would wake up dad and it was like he just had a super bad dream. Haha mom I think you will know what I mean. So victim this week: Elder El-bakri.

So back to the temple! We had the awesome opportunity to go have the conference in Montevideo, and for our intermission break we got to do a session! It was the first time for almost 8 months that I had been in the temple. I would have to say that is the only thing that kinda stinks as missionary, is that we go to the temple rarely, but it was an awesome experience. On the whole way down I was singing the song 'I Love to See the Temple.' And even better, after the session we got to eat some sloppy joes in the mission house from the beloved binghams (cocineros). And also to make this week one of the best, we had the baptism of Walter last saturday! We had a lot of support from the ward and a ton of people showed up! And after, the wife of Walter, who had been inactive for 16 years, gave her testimony saying now my husband and I can walk in the same path together. It was super heart-touching. We also have another bautism of Diego on the 16th - remember him in your prayers.

To finish, I just want to leave you with the amazing words of President Smith that he left with us in the conference. He said the following "What do you want? As missionaries and as people we will always be finding ourselves asking what do I want? First, you cannot want more than what you ask for. And second, ask yourself what your Heavenly Father wants. And in this lies the doctrine, the real test in this life is to want what your Heavenly Father wants, and when you want what your Heavenly Father wants, you will have eternal life."

I love you all my friends and fam!
Besos y abrazos chaucito!
