Hola! como han pasado!?!?
I love talking to all! This week seemed pretty long because of all the traveling I had to do at the start of the week! Pero igual. The clima here is crazy, one day it is super hot and the next it is cold and rainy and windy! It seems like it cant make up its mind!
Okay so to begin, after Montevideo, we had to stop in Salto because we had a zone meeting, where the zone leaders teach and tell us the things the president wants to change. And president smith has changed the mission completely here in Uruguay. We have been told to spend 2/3 of our time with menos activos (less active or non-active members of the church). Crazy! But it makes perfect sense because there are so many people and families who go inactive after getting baptized. The focus has been put on strengthening los barrios and las estacas (neighborhoods and stakes), and trying to get 100 percent retention! We are treating menos activos like investigadores, and going over the first lessons again and specifically the Book of Mormon so that we can rekindle that fire that they had in their hearts when they were baptized.
So after the meeting we had a short little split also, Elder Duke stayed in the Salto, with Elder Hewlitt. And the other zone leader, Elder Roseta from mexico! came with me to Bella Union! It was weird when for the first time I realized that there was no one that I could speak english with. I was the only gringo on the bus back to Bella Union! Haha but I loved speaking spanish all day! I surprised myself with how much I knew! I also found out that Elder Roseta hates spiders, haha the spiders here are pretty big! And every time we saw one he made me kill it because there was no way we would get near to it! I was only with Elder Roseta for one day, but I learned a lot from him, he is such a hard worker, and being the only member from his family, he has such a strong testimony.
Okay so this week with our investigadores! and the capilla (church)! This week was a little tough. Last sunday it was raining super hard in the morning, entonces there wasn't a lot of people in the church. I thought for sure that I would have to give a talk but instead the bishop called one of the other missionaries. Yo tenia suerte! pero veremos lo que va a pasar la semana que viene. estaré preparado. (I was lucky, but we will see what happens next week! I will be ready.)
But this week with our investigadors, we had another lesson with Cristian! We taught him lesson one again because he told us that he couldn't remember it, but it was totally fine! We want him to understand fully. The spiritual experience of the week happened in the la casa de Rosa, we were teaching her about the Book of Mormon and after we asked her to pray. Every time we go to her house its a little crazy and loud with all the niños running around but right when she started her pray everything was calm y tranquilo. Para mi, esa experiencia me mostró el poder de la oración. (For me, that experience showed me the power of prayer.)
I love you all! I am so grateful for my family and for the oportunidad I have to talk with you all every week and see how you all are doing. I am also so grateful for the oportunidad I have to study the escrituras cada mañana, I love the Book of Mormon! I know it is true. Like the great prophet Jose Smith said, el Libro de Mormon es la clave de nuestra religión y que un hombre se acercaría mas a Dios y Jesucristo al seguir sus preceptos que los de cualquier otro libro. (The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God and Jesus Christ by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.)
