Week 8: Whom the Lord calls, He qualifies.

Hola Todos (everyone)!!!
Another week! Oh my goodness! Time flies when you are having fun and working hard!

Okay so this week the weather down here is super bi-polar! One day it is super hot and the other day it is super cold! Haha it is weird! But no matter how cold or hot it is there are always so many mosquitos! One of the mornings that I woke up, I counted and I had 25 mosquito bites just on my face! I know that I have a mosquito net but there is no use because it does not hang anywhere. so instead elder duke had the great idea of turning the fan on and ever since I have not woken up with a bunch of mosquito bites on my face!

Oh and like Elder Dunn talked about with the dogs, it is true that there are so many in the streets and they are crazy! Especially when you have two of them that follow you everywhere! haha there are two dogs here that only follow missionaries and they are super annoying because anywhere we go all the other dogs are barking at them or trying to attack them. They followed Elder Duke and I home last night and they slept outside our door until the morning. Elder Duke and I were like no! They're still outside! So we came up with the idea to sneak out the back door, while there were watching the front of the house. So this morning we had a sneaky escape over the brick wall in our back yard to get away from the "missionary dogs".

Okay so now to the important stuff. This week with our investigators was better than last week because Soledad and two of her friends came to church this week! Earlier in the week Elder Duke and made brownies for Soldedad and all her siblings and all their friends! It took us about three times until we made the perfect brownies haha but they were delicious! Every time Elder Duke and I go there to the house of Soldedad, we meet someone new because they always bring a new friend. Which is great! Because then they can all learn together and they can come to church together! One of the quotes from President Gordon B. Hinckley that I love is "One of first things that an investigator or recent convert needs, is a friend in the church!" And that is 100 percent true! So remember this quote if you are sitting in church and you see someone who is sitting by themselves or looks lonely, go talk to them! Or sit by them! Because we are all brothers and sisters and we need to treat everyone like family.

This week we also found two new investigadors whose names our Fabian and Ricardo and the special thing about them is that they came up to us and asked if we could teach them. Elder Duke and I looked at each other and we were like yeah! We would love to teach you! So we taught them about the restoration and the Book of Mormon and they loved that it was from our ancestors in the Americas! We will teach them again this week so I will keep you updated!

Oh and this week was fast Sunday and one of the young boys that we teach gave such a great testimony. His name is Emmanuel and he is recent convert. He has such a strong testimony for a 13-year old. I love him and I know that he is going to be a great missionary one day. The brother of emmanuel is Kevin and he is also a recent convert, and sadly we wasn't able to make it to church this week because he was really sick. So what did Elder Duke and I decide to do? We decided to give a Priesthood blessing, so after church we had the oportunidad to give him a blessing. The Priesthood is powerful, everyday I am grateful for the Priesthood, and I know that whom the Lord calls, He qualifies.

I love you all! And sorry that this email has kind of been all over the place haha.

PS thanks mom for packing oil :)
