Hola mi familia!!
How is everything! Right now I am in Paysung! I think that is how you spell it haha. I know that it sounds like I am in China.
Okay so where to begin. We took a flight from Buenos Aires to Montevideo, which was pretty short, only about 30 min on a small plane. When we landed we were greeting by some missionaries and then we met the President's family! We are there first group so they are super excited and it is funny because President Smith records everything on his iphone for the memories haha I love president he is amazing! I know i was called to Uruguay so that he could be my mission president! He really is such a great guy and i am so grateful that I get to have him as my president for all 2 years. The mission home in Montevideo is way nice too! We stayed over for one night and we had the opportunity of going to the temple too! So now i have been blessed to go to the Buenos Aries and Montevideo temple! They are both so beautiful!
The next morning we all met our trainers! My trainer is Elder Duke - he is a boss! I love him! He only has 12 weeks left on his mission so I am his last companion. He is from Utah too and he is an amazing teacher and trainer! He helps me everyday to be a better missionary. Okay so to get to our area from Montevideo we had to take a 10 hour bus ride, it took forever!! I think it it the most Northern area in our mission. In our area there is Elder Duke and I and two other Elders, who are both way awesome too.
Our home is pretty nice, we have running water and that is probably the best thing about our house. I am so glad that i brought a sleeping bag because our house gets so cold at night, me and Elder Duke freeze our butts off when we have to get up in the morning. Last sunday I met our ward and I introduced myself to everyone and bore my testimony. They said my spanish was good so I was happy. It was funny though because the Bishop asked Elder Duke to give a talk when we got there, but no worries Elder Duke is a stud and he gave an awesome talk about the Book of Mormon.
I love the people in our ward they are all so nice and they help me with my spanish when I struggle. The best thing about Sunday though is that we had some investigators come to church. Getting the people to come to church is the hardest thing in our mission. In order for someone to be baptized they have to go to church at least 3 times. A lot of our investigators our teenagers and young kids. So they usually don't want to wake up early, but that is okay because me and Elder Duke go to there house and get them! I love all the people here! I think it is so amazing that they are able to live the way they do. They are so grateful for the little things that I took for granted.
Being a missionary has really made me humble and much more grateful for the small things that I have in my life. I am so grateful for my family and I love you all so much. I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a missionary and for the opportunity that I have to share my testimony every day with the people of Uruguay.
We should always share our testimonies with everyone because a testimony is the most powerful thing that we have, and it can touch and change peoples hearts. I Love you all so much once again! I can feel your prayers helping me and I hope that my prayers help you! The Church of Jesus Christ is true, I know with all my heart and I know that that belief will never change.
Con amor,
Elder Watts
PS. Send more photos! And tell Kasey Jarvis that the pretending to pick up a rock trick with dogs works haha he will know what I am talking about.
We all know Zach isn't the best at sending photos (he is getting better!), so the bottom three photos were borrowed from his companions blog -- thank you to the Duke Family!
